The CC Festival of the Arts provides kids and adults a great opportunity for artistic expression and output. Sometimes this work can include paintings, drawings and sketches, photographs or portraits.
Getting these printed at home can be a good way to save it as a cherished memory. However in order to make it last you have to take some precautions and steps. Here are a few different options for you.
Printing at home is one of the most common ways to enjoy photographs or paintings. You’ll needs just a couple of things to get this accomplished.
Obviously, you’ll need a printer. Printers for art prints are readily available, I personally use the Canon Pixma Pro 100. They can get pretty expensive but if you keep an eye out for sales its not so bad.
The next step is to get the proper paper. There’s lots of guides for picking proper art print paper, but the main factor you have to keep in mind type of ink and acidity. Watercolor paper is very much different than oil paint paper.
Some printers will even print on canvas, however that’s a bit more advanced. As we’ll mention below there are services that’ll do this for you, and for one-offs its probably easier just to go with that option.
If you have larger photographs or prints that you want hung up on the wall for a long time, you might want to opt for printed canvas. There are plenty of companies that specialize in this, so you might want to read some canvas print reviews to find the best option.
Generally you can send in a photo and you’ll get it sent back in a week or two. The price isn’t even that expensive, usually, and it makes a huge impression.
Ok, this is only for very specialized purposes, but there are companies that will print your photograph or graphic directly on metal. Usually used for some interior decorating proposition, you should consider it only if it really fits your needs. The metal is pretty heavy and more expensive than other options, so it shouldn’t be used without discretion.
